Larrave Secures Grant for HELPS International

Addison, Texas (June 3, 2009)—Karin Larrave from Dallas, TX, secured a $5000 grant from the MDRT Foundation on behalf of HELPS International.

Larrave, of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and an 8-year MDRT member, is an active supporter of HELPS International who nominated and endorsed the grant application. HELPS International is a nonprofit organization that provides enduring programs of practical, social, and spiritual value to the people in the developing world through a system of partnership and mutual responsibility. The MDRT Foundation will support a program of the organization.

This year, the MDRT Foundation will award more than $1 million in grants to more than 100 charities. Representing the MDRT Foundation, Larrave (pictured above, right) presented this grant to Michelle Hollaender (pictured above, left), Development Director of HELPS International, on April 25, 2009 at the 2nd Annual 25^th Golf Tournament of the EX-A-Tec (Tecnologico de Monterrey Alumni Association of Dallas).

HELPS used this grant for the purchase and installation of the ONIL Stove and HELPS Gravity Water Filter in 34 households in Guatemala (right). The goal of this project was to help families achieve a better standard of living and overall health.

The MDRT Foundation was created in 1959 to provide MDRT members with a means to give back to their communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated more than $23 million in 67 countries around the world and all 50 U.S. states. The majority of these funds were raised by MDRT members.
