HELPS International believes the future of Guatemala lies in the education of the children. But we cannot do it alone. This is why HELPS developed the Partners in Education Program (PEP) .
The key to PEP is partnership. Through PEP, students, parents and partners work together to insure the success of HELPS educational programs. HELPS believes in giving a hand-up rather than just a handout; for this reason, parents are required to contribute financially to the education of their child. While the contribution may not be substantial by US standards, and not enough to cover the annual expenses of the school, it is significant to the families of HELPS students and reflects their commitment to their child's education.
The role of the partner in the PEP program is more than just financial, it is also one of friendship. During the school year, students and partners develop a special bond that often lasts long after the students have completed their education at the HELPS school. The relationship between the students and partners is so special that students refer to their partners as "madrina" (godmother) or "padrino" (godfather).
Put a child on the right path with your contribution which can change a child's life. For only $1 a day or $30 a month, you can affect not only one person but generations of people to come. You can help develop an infrastructure of education in rural areas where there has been no cultural precedent for learning; you can bring about change and give real hope for the future.
Become a PEP (Partner in Education Program) today and make a contribution that will last a lifetime. Call 1-800-41-HELPS (800-414-3577) or email us at info@helpsinternational.org or cwrosten@gmail.com
